Product properties
Benzotriazole (BTA) is a white to light yellow crystalline solid, available in flake, granular, or powder form, with a bitter taste and odorless characteristic. BTA is slightly soluble in water and readily soluble in alcohol, benzene, toluene, chloroform, and dimethylformamide (DMF). It has a melting point of 96–99°C, a boiling point of 204°C at 15 mmHg, a flash point of 170°C, and a density of 1.36 g/cm³. With a high purity level, BTA delivers consistent and reliable quality for demanding applications.

Storage
Benzotriazole (BTA) should be stored in tightly sealed containers, kept in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated warehouse, protected from heat, sparks, and oxidizing materials.

Packing
Available in 20 kg, 25 kg, and 500 kg net packaging options, including plastic woven bags, composite bags, fiber drums, steel drums, and FIBC flexible intermediate bulk containers, with inner plastic or aluminum foil liners. Customized packaging is available upon request.

Application
Benzotriazole (BTA) is a versatile chemical intermediate with broad industrial utility:

  • Corrosion inhibitor – BTA is one of the most effective corrosion inhibitors for copper, copper alloys, and other metals, widely used in rust preventives, antifreeze fluids, cooling water systems, and metalworking fluids.

  • Antioxidant – BTA is used as an antioxidant in various lubricating oils, hydraulic fluids, brake fluids, and transformer oils.

  • Polymer additives – BTA serves as a UV absorber and antistatic agent for polyamide, polyester, and other polymer materials to prevent degradation caused by ultraviolet radiation.

  • Photographic chemicals – BTA is used as an antifogging agent and emulsifying mordant in photographic emulsions.

  • Analytical reagent – BTA is employed as a reagent for the determination of silver in analytical chemistry.

  • Other applications – BTA is also used as a PVC foaming inhibitor, flotation agent in copper ore beneficiation, and metal detergent additive.
